Our Rooms: Stay well rested to make the most of your days
The lodge is a collage of history; three unique buildings renovated and turned into modern day accommodation. The First building on the site was a family home that was relocated from Bird, Manitoba where the first hydro electric dam in the province was built. The second house was simply a Churchill family home built in the 1950’s when the military presence and space race would have been prominent in the town. The third house is the most unique of all, known to us as the “Log House”, but to others as an “Akudlik House” which were units used to house Inuit people during their forced relocation to Akudlik Marsh by the Canadian government in the mid 1950’s. In repurposing these buildings, we hope to begin to write them new stories while still using them to teach visitors about all aspects of their pasts.
Both accommodation wings feature six rooms, and as our buildings are unique and repurposed, each room differs slightly, but all rooms come equipped with amenities:
A private bathroom with its own toilet, sink and shower
Complementary toiletries such as shampoo, soap, and conditioner
All linens; towels, bedding, and extra blankets
High speed Star Link wifi to keep you connected
Access to all common spaces including the complementary breakfast area, shared kitchen, decks, and dining and living room
The Log House,
or Akudlik home wing of our lodge features cozy double rooms, perfect for couples, or solo travellers seeking a little more space for themselves. These rooms are located further from the common areas, making them a little quieter for anyone sensitive to noise, and many of them boast Hudson Bay facing windows.
The Family Home,
our little piece of local history, features both single and double rooms, suitable for mixed groups. These rooms are conveniently located in the same wing as the shared kitchen, giving them a more social and “homey” atmosphere. They have both Hudson Bay and Tundra facing windows.
